18. SIGNAL “FINISHED”
It is important to signal to the
child that the activity or class has
ended. Once the exercise/task/
lesson is done, it is important for
the child to know where to put
things or to let him or her know
that the task/activity has been
done/completed (eg sticker, water
to drink, soothing activity for the
child, there should be a concrete
place to put the item or finished
task to let a person know it’s over.
This can be a tray or box to put the
items into. This provides a clear,
visual cue that an activity is done and can move on to something else. If there is not enough time to complete a task and it has to be finished later, consider having a special market box for it.). Visually show on a daily basis that the day is getting shorter, activities are getting done.
